- Deploying SQL, JAR, and Python jobs
- Course Grading

Let’s start deploying SQL, JAR, and Python jobs to your Ververica cluster.
This hands-on course focuses on deploying the following job types on Ververica:
SQL Deployments
Use the Ververica UI to deploy Flink SQL jobs. Define connectors (sources and sinks) in the catalog for easy use in your SQL jobs. We will go through the following examples:
Deploying Your First Ververica SQL Job
Using Catalog-Defined Faker Source in SQL
Using Catalog-Defined Kafka Sink in SQL
JAR Deployments
Deploy Flink Java jobs to Ververica. Build JAR files from OSS Flink examples. Learn how to shade Kafka connector and client dependencies in the JAR file for connecting jobs running on Ververica to a Kafka cluster. We will complete the following examples:
Uploading JAR Artifact and Deploying Your First Java Job
Packaging Open Source Flink Examples to Deploy on Ververica
OSS Flink State Machine Example with Kafka Source
Python Deployments
Deploy your first Python job to Ververica. We will complete the following example:
Deploying Your First Python Job on Ververica
Prerequisites
You will need access to a Ververica cluster to complete this course. The following options are available:
1 EASIEST! Request access to a workspace in a Ververica Academy BYOC cluster by contacting academy@ververica.com with your requested start date. We will provide you with workspace access for one week and answer any questions as you complete the course!
2 If you already have your own BYOC or Self-Managed Ververica Platform Cluster, most likely you’re all set! For more information on deployment options, visit Getting Started with Ververica: Unified Streaming Data Platform Deployment Options.
Course Pacing
We expect the course will take approximately 6-7 hours to complete. You will have access to the BYOC cluster workspace for one week. Please reach out to Ververica Academy if you need to change your course start date. We will delete your workspace and recreate it when you are ready to resume the course.
Grading
For each deployment option (SQL, JAR, or Python) you will be asked to complete the following to demonstrate mastery:
- Knowledge Check: answer five questions about the deployment option and the associated code base, retake until you achieve 100% on each quiz
- Challenge: complete a hands-on challenge to demonstrate your ability to create a deployment
- Submission: submit the requested output to show successful completion of the challenge
Once you have scored 100% on each of the three Knowledge Checks and finished the three Submissions, complete the final submission requesting course grading to receive your Certificate of Completion.
